Hello!
I'm Amy Hernandez, a Product Designer with a professional background of over a decade in design, healthcare, marketing, and technology. I am well versed in a wide range of design mediums, including print, digital, illustration, presentation, environmental, motion graphic, and product.
I'm passionate about creating value-based solutions that improve outcomes, especially in healthcare. I enjoy designing for healthcare because health is personal, which makes each solution very personal; to design for health is to design for everyone.
Outside of design, I enjoy camping, brunch, and farmer markets in the Pacific Northwest with my husband, son, and golden retriever.
Core Values
I believe design should be:
Engaging
A symbiotic relationship between products or services and users; as one takes, the other gives, and vice versa. I design solutions to problems as a means to continue engagement, the relationship between the user and product/service.
Helpful
Going forward, how technology intersects with our attention will make or break it. Therefore, as a designer, I believe it is my responsibility to ensure that how technology is designed — online portals, artificial intelligence, wearables, etc. — it should maintain a core value to serve, rather than be served. Ideally, to design with care.
Delightful
I believe the relationship between a product and its user should be one of creating desire for one another, starting with the user (a human being). Human beings cannot be diminished down to graphs and analytics, so why design products as if to fulfill a set of data points? One of the complex, comprehensive objectives of design is to first be enjoyed, rather than utilized. This point is a tangent off the idea that "Great Design Should Be Experienced, Not Seen".
